Puebla, the second-largest producer of light vehicles in Mexico

In May, the production of light vehicles grew 28 percent in annual terms, totaling 45,186 units, which placed the state in second place nationally in the generation of automobiles.

During May, the production of light vehicles grew 28 percent in annual terms, totaling 45,186 units, which placed the state in second place nationally in the generation of automobiles, according to the Ministry of Economy, based on indicators from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).

This figure represents 16.4% of the light vehicles assembled in Mexico and also represents an increase of 18.7% concerning April in Puebla's production, with 7,133 more units, according to the Administrative Registry of the Light Vehicle Automotive Industry.

In May, 37,667 vehicles were exported, with which Puebla remained among the three states in the country with the highest sales of automobiles abroad, accounting for 15.4% of the national total.

Three countries accounted for 94.1% of exports: the United States with 23,821 vehicles (63.2%), Germany with 8,303 (22%), and Canada with 3,326 (8.8%).

In terms of production, SUV models accounted for the largest volume, with 18,243 Tiguan models from Volkswagen de México, 16,630 Q5 vehicles from Audi México, and 7,490 Taos, as well as 2,823 Jetta models.
