Seven inmates escape from Cieneguillas prison in Zacatecas, Mexico

After the seven inmates broke out of the Cieneguillas jail in Zacatecas, a robust operation involving the Army and the National Guard was deployed in the area.

At least seven inmates escaped this weekend from the men's prison of Cieneguillas, in Zacatecas. Following the escape, a strong operation was deployed in the vicinity of the Cereso with the participation of state preventive police, penitentiary police, the National Guard, and the Mexican Army.

Prison breakout

At least seven inmates escaped this weekend from the men's prison of Cieneguillas, in Zacatecas. "At 4:20 p.m., there was an escape of some elements in the Cieneguillas prison," Adolfo Marin Marin, Secretary of Security of Zacatecas, admitted in an interview.

After the escape, a strong operation was deployed near the Cereso with the participation of personnel from the state preventive police, penitentiary police, National Guard, and Mexican Army.

"There was an escape apparently through one of the walls of the penitentiary, but we will continue to carry out the investigations," added Adolfo Marin Marin, head of the Zacatecas Security Secretariat.

Not the first time

So far this year, this same crime, classified as "prison escape" has already been committed three times in Zacatecas, according to figures published by the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System. In January there were two escapes, in March an escape and now the last one in October. State authorities do not rule out that there could be more escaped inmates, as investigations continue to find out the exact number of inmates involved in the escape.

Fugitives

Following the escape of inmates from the Cieneguillas prison in the middle of the day in Zacatecas, state security authorities issued a search warrant for the inmates to locate them. According to the communiqué, the prisoners who escaped from the prison are from Zacatecas (5), Durango (1), and Veracruz (1), who were serving sentences for federal and common law crimes.

Juan Pablo del Real Torres, 32 years old, from Guadalupe Zacatecas, was arrested for the crime of femicide and entered prison on May 17, 2021.

José Enrique Ortiz Adán, 38 years old, from Calcahualco, Veracruz. He was sentenced on May 8, 2020, for possession of a firearm.

Rodrigo Altamirano Lara, 29, from the state of Zacatecas. He was admitted on May 28, 2021, for kidnapping.

Vidal Torres Hernandez, 26, from Mazapil, Zacatecas; was arrested for the crimes of property damage and attempted homicide and was admitted to the Cerereso on July 16, 2021.

Natividad Alvarado García and/or José Manuel Rivera García, 40 years old. He is originally from Mapimi, Durango, and was arrested for the crime of illegal deprivation of liberty. He entered prison on April 20, 2021.

Felipe de Jesús Bañuelos Trejo, 30, Guadalupe Zacatecas. He was arrested for aggravated robbery and aggravated homicide. He was admitted on March 16, 2020.

Luis Guillermo de la Torre Escobar and/or Ruben Belmontes Ventura, 34, Zacatecas. Arrested for kidnapping, he was admitted to Cieneguillas on September 26, 2021.
