The Mexican Government announced an operation to reinforce security in Quintana Roo with 1,445 members of the National Guard that will be distributed in the eleven municipalities.

The National Guard battalion began tourist security duties in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, with a total of 100 elements aboard 50 vehicles for this area alone.

On November 17, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and the head of the Secretary of National Defense (Sedena), Luis Cresencio Sandoval González, announced an operation to reinforce security in Quintana Roo with 1,445 members of the National Guard to be distributed "in the eleven municipalities, but with emphasis on the tourist municipalities", about Cancun, Playa del Carmen, and Tulum.

Previously, more elements arrived in Cancun to reinforce the security of this destination and thus contribute to improving the image of Quintana Roo in the eyes of the world.

In this area, 750 members of the National Guard arrived to strengthen prevention strategies and ensure a peaceful environment in Cancun, where their work will be carried out in coordination with the state and municipal governments.
