Spain is positioning itself year after year as one of the favorite destinations for national and international tourists. In 2019, 50% of the places most demanded by Spanish travelers belonged to the Spanish territory, and this year it is the country most chosen by the same public.

Apart from the variety of geographical features it has, where you can find paradisiacal beaches to mountains of almost 3,800 meters high, Spain boasts a perfect climate that allows a multitude of adventure activities in almost all areas of its territory.

The adventure sports platform Yumping has carried out a study that indicates which are the most booked destinations in Spain to practice the most demanded summer sports, being Cadiz, Granada, Cantabria, Basque Country, Alicante, and Lanzarote, the ones that will receive more visitors.

Kitesurfing, Cadiz

Known as "The kite capital of Europe", this small town in Cadiz with about 20 kilometers of fine white sand, has become the home of the enthusiasts of this water sport that combines elements and characteristics of wakeboarding and skateboarding among others.

This summer sport that uses a kite and a board to move across the surface of the sea, is one of the most demanded and exciting of the season for testing the physical limits of the wind and waves.

Rafting, Granada

Characterized for being a fun and adrenaline-filled experience, rafting has been increasing in popularity year after year and has become one of the most popular water sports this summer.

The province of Granada, in this case, has won over most of the fans by combining turbulent waters and treacherous rapids that fill with excitement this activity, especially demanded by groups of 4 to 6 people. The Guadalfeo river, located in the town of Bérluches, offers one of the most intense descents in the world with a degree of difficulty of four out of five.

Surfing, Cantabria, and the Basque Country

The northern coast of Spain, apart from boasting extraordinary natural and wild beauty, has extraordinary coasts for lovers of adventure tourism, nature, and water sports, especially surfing.

While the Basque Country is a renowned destination for the practice of this sport, Cantabria and the area around Santander have also acquired great popularity for hosting different beaches suitable for fans of any level.

The charming town of Mundaka, Biscay, is popularly known for offering the best waves in Europe, and in fact, it has been the place chosen to hold some of the most prestigious surfing events such as the Billabong Pro Mundaka in 2006. What stands out about its waves, is that they generate large tubes on a wide sandy bottom, something extraordinary and that makes it one of the busiest destinations this season.

Meanwhile, in Ribamontán al Mar, Cantabria, is the beach of Somo, with different surf schools, and an extension of almost 4 kilometers of sand with peaks suitable for athletes of any category, is also positioned as another of the most popular places.

Kayaking and snorkeling, Alicante

If Alicante is known for something, it is for its kilometers of white sand beaches, crystal clear waters, and sea caves, and this makes it one of the best places in the country for kayaking and snorkeling.

Some of the most popular routes are the kayaking route through the coves of Villajoyosa, ideal for the family because it is a simple route that crosses the Cala de Bon Nou, Esparrelló, and La Caleta, and the Cova Tallada, where you can see one of the most spectacular caves in the Mediterranean thanks to its size and corners full of details.

Regarding the areas that will welcome more snorkeling fanatics, Javea, Calpe, and Altea stand out for their incredible seabed, the tranquility and cleanliness of their waters, and their shallow depth.

Diving, Lanzarote

The islands are the paradise of diving in the Atlantic Ocean. The four largest are Tenerife, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria, and Fuerteventura, and they are the ones that concentrate the majority of diving centers and destinations. But if there is one that stands out in demand on the part of the public fond of this sport, it is Lanzarote.

The Canary Island has become one of the best diving destinations in Europe, offering these sportsmen more than 100 idyllic places to dive.

The clear Atlantic waters surrounding this destination have incredible diving conditions, as well as extraordinary marine flora and fauna. They are home to amazing reefs, caves, museums, schools of fish, sharks, and rays among other wonderful species.

Likewise, the island is divided into 4 diving areas that allow divers with different levels of difficulty and depth: Playa Blanca, Mala, La Graciosa, and Playa del Carmen, the latter being the one with the largest number of reservations.
