A fatal car accident occurred on the Caborca-Sonoyta highway in the state of Sonora, where a woman died and Serafin Zambada Ortiz, son of Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada Garcia, was allegedly seriously injured. Although authorities have not yet confirmed the facts, it was reported that the two passengers in the crashed car, a white Kia, were the heir of "El Mayo" and his girlfriend, Norma López, 30.
The couple were reportedly found in the wreckage of the car after the fatal crash and were taken to a clinic for recovery along the way, however, the woman reported to be his alleged girlfriend died and Serafin, for his part, is struggling between life and death. Preliminary reports indicate that he has two broken ribs and a punctured lung, for which he would have required surgery at a private hospital in the city of Hermosillo.
However, it should be noted that although the facts have not yet been confirmed by the authorities, the police of the city of Hermosillo continue to guard the scene of the accident, while the relevant investigation is being carried out to determine who was responsible for the incident.
Who is "Mayo" Zambada's son?
Serafin is the youngest of "Mayo" Zambada's ten children. Serafin Zambada's mother is Leticia Ortiz; the third wife of the Sinaloa Cartel boss. He is 31 years old and is better known as "Sera" or "Flaco", he was arrested at the Nogales border crossing in Arizona in November 2013. Although "Mayo's" youngest son, who is still at large, pleaded guilty in September 2014, he was sentenced to 66 months by Judge Dana M. Sabraw in March 2018. His name rose to fame when it was reported that in 2019 he was released from a US prison after serving a sentence for drug trafficking. It should be noted that he is the only son still at large.
