Renat Dassae, 32, alias El Daza, one of the alleged leaders of the criminal group La Unión Tepito, was arrested for the fifth time. He was carrying a weapon, and drugs and was traveling in a recent model sports car.
The alleged criminal was detained last night by elements of the Secretariat of Citizen Security at the corner of Ferrocarril de Cintura and Mecánicos streets in the Morelos neighborhood in a checkpoint operation called "Centinela" (Sentinel).
At the time of his arrest, the authorities also seized several doses of drugs, 800 pesos, and marijuana in bulk. They also seized a pistol. El Daza was carrying a notebook in which La Unión Tepito recorded the extortion charges.
At the time of his search, the suspect also had a notebook with the names of businesses and different amounts of money that La Unión Tepito demanded from merchants in the Cuauhtémoc and Venustiano Carranza districts so that they wouldn't kidnap them and burn down their businesses.
El Daza is the leader of the drug dealers and extortionists in La Unión Tepito right now. He is a close friend of Roberto Mollado Esparza "El Betito" and is in the inner circle of the group.
