Mexican Footgolf Open will feature 14 countries in Cancun

The Mexican Footgolf Open will distribute 500 points for the international ranking for the World Cup to be played next year.

Everything is ready for the Mexican Footgolf Open in Cancun, which will take place from March 24 to 27, at the Riviera Cancun Golf & Resorts Course in the Hotel Zone, where more than 170 players from 14 countries, such as Argentina, Spain, United States, Bolivia, Venezuela, Chile, Mexico, etc., will attend.

"The growth of this sport in the country has been exponential, every year we are growing more than 100 percent (with respect) to the previous year and now in Cancun, which has been one of the strongest places in recent years, has practically everything to host the second most important tournament of the year in North America," commented Fernando Name Guzzy, director of the Mexican FootGolf Federation.

The level in Quintana Roo has grown and will be reflected in the number of participants in this event.

"FootGolf is being played more and more in Cancun, the weekend that was the second date of the League we had almost 40 players and for this Mexico Open we will have 20 local registered players and that reflects the interest and growth they have given to our sport in courses such as Poktapok and El Tinto," he added.

This Thursday will be the practice day, while Friday, Saturday, and Sunday the 18 holes per day will be played to determine the champions of the Gentlemen, Senior, and Ladies categories. The Mexican Footgolf Open will award 500 points for the international ranking for the World Cup to be played next year in Orlando, Florida.

This is the first of three national and international tournaments to be held in Cancun. From May 13 to 15, Cancun will host the Cancun Open and the National Super Cup from December 9 to 15. In addition to the local footgolf league, with the Opening and Closing competitions.
