Speaking exclusively to Azteca Deportes, the goalkeeper made some commitments to the fans, as he knows that Mexico will be a tough opponent, and both he and his teammates will leave everything on the field.

The Mexican National Team will share a section with Poland, Argentina, and Saudi Arabia in the Qatar 2022 World Cup, rivals that will not be easy but can be beaten because as they have shown in past editions, everyone can be heroes.

Carlos Acevedo's path to the Mexican National Team

It was not until last December 2021, that Carlos Acevedo was able to present himself as a player for the Mexican National Team. However, before that, there was a long road full of obstacles that taught him to never give up. Now, he has his sights set on the Qatar 2022 World Cup, and for that reason, here is his story.

It is an honor for me to introduce myself to you. Carlos Acevedo López was born in Torreón, Coahuila; he is currently 26 years old. Goalkeeper for Club Santos; Administration graduate. With many goals and dreams to accomplish and working to reach them.

Carlos Acevedo-Lopez's dream started when he was 5 years old.

I have always liked sports a lot. Not just soccer. In school, I always play pranks on the teachers.

He never stopped training, but life had other plans for him.

I had two exits from the club. Unfortunately, I didn't have the chance to be able to demonstrate (on those occasions). The first time didn't hurt so much because it was already a need of mine to relax; I was a very young kid.

The second departure could have been definitive, as he was training with the first team.

"I was already training with the first division team. That's when it hit me and I said, 'I can, I can with the first team.'

Santos U-17 accident opens up a possibility for Acevedo

'When I get the call to come back, I said, "I can." Little by little I'm building a lot of things.'

To conclude, the Lagunero goalkeeper expressed that he has two big objectives.

'To be champion with Santos on the field would be wonderful for me. Being able to go to the World Cup is another goal I have in mind and I have to work to achieve it.'
The National Team came at a difficult time for me because we had been eliminated by Tigres. After that, I received the letter to be able to go to the call-up against Chile.

Acevedo is close to fulfilling one of his dreams. Will we see him in Qatar 2022?
