The head of the Attorney General's Office of the state of Guerrero, Sandra Luz Valdovinos confirmed that after the armed attack that occurred yesterday in the municipality of San Miguel Totolapan, 20 people have already been killed, among them the mayor of the town, Conrado Mendoza Almeida.

In an interview with Hechos AM, the official announced that following yesterday's violence in the mountain area of Guerrero, an operation was launched by the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena), the National Guard, and state authorities.

He informed that ministerial agents, experts, and public prosecutors, as well as tow trucks and official vehicles, moved to the municipality of San Miguel Totolapan to join the joint operation to locate and arrest those responsible for the death of 20 people in that demarcation of Tierra Caliente.

He informed that the personnel of the Attorney General's Office is in San Miguel Totolapan carrying out investigative actions to exhaust all available resources to find those responsible for the death of Conrado "N" and Juan "N", president and former municipal president of San Miguel Totolapan respectively, and to clarify what happened on Wednesday afternoon in that town.

Later, in the morning conference, the Undersecretary of Security, Ricardo Mejía Berdeja confirmed the death of 20 people in Totolapan.

He reported that according to a video that is in the process of being authenticated, the criminal group Los Tequileros, claimed responsibility for the attack as well as the death of a former official of that municipality earlier this month, which had initially been reported as an accident.

During the afternoon of Wednesday, blockades were reported at the accesses to the municipality of San Miguel Totolapan, to impede the passage of the authorities.
