In the raided house, "El Fumador" was captured and a plastic bag containing fentanyl pills, a short firearm with a magazine inserted, several cartridges, and two cell phones were seized. The Federal Public Prosecutor's Office (MPF), presented the evidence to the judge who ordered the indictment and the preventive measure of pre-trial detention and two months for the complementary investigation.

On August 19, José Bernabé, alias "La Vaca", who also used the nicknames "El Animal" or "La Bestia", the alleged leader of the criminal group "Los Mezcales", was arrested in Mexico City, identified as one of the most wanted for his alleged responsibility in acts of violence committed in Colima. Elements of the Army and the Secretariat of Citizen Security participated in the operation, according to Omar García Harfuch, chief of police, at the time.
