Six new cases of monkeypox confirmed in Jalisco

Out of all the confirmed cases of monkeypox in Jalisco, 18 have already concluded their isolation period and 10 remain active.

The Jalisco Ministry of Health (SSJ) confirmed this Friday six new cases of monkeypox, bringing the total number of infections in the state to 28. Of the total number of confirmed infections, 18 have already concluded their isolation period and 10 remain active.

Forty-four people in the state are being monitored for health status, with no symptoms registered so far. In all the municipalities of the state, the protocol of orientation, attention, and alert for the outbreak of monkeypox is being maintained.

As of this Friday, 104 attentions have been granted to guide people requesting information, clarifying doubts, or referring to medical services.

The list of new cases of monkeypox in Jalisco

1-Male patient, 30 years old, resident of the municipality of Tlaquepaque. As a history of risk, he refers to contact with people who traveled abroad. He started with symptoms on July 25 and later presented pustule-like lesions on various parts of the body. He went for a consultation where samples were taken and sent to InDRE, which confirmed positive for monkeypox on August 4.

2-Male patient, 29 years old, resident of the municipality of Tlaquepaque. He presented macular lesions on his face, thorax, back, legs, and arms. On July 26, he went for care, samples were taken to send to the InDRE, which confirmed simian monkeypox on Friday, August 5.

3-Male patient, 23 years old, Colombian nationality, with temporary residence in the municipality of Puerto Vallarta. He began with symptoms on July 21 with lesions in several areas of the body. He went for care and samples were taken and the InDRE confirmed positive for monkeypox on August 2.

4-Male patient, 46 years old, resident of the municipality of Guadalajara. He began with symptoms on July 28 with lesions on the corner of the lips and later on various parts of the body. He went to the medical unit for care, samples were taken and the InDRE confirmed positive for monkeypox on August 2.

5-A 33-year-old male patient, resident of the municipality of Puerto Vallarta. He began with symptoms on July 13 in the genital region and extremities. He presented himself for consultation and samples were taken and the InDRE confirmed positive for simian monkeypox on Friday, August 5.

6-Male patient, 27 years old, resident of the municipality of Guadalajara. As a history of risk, he refers to coexistence with foreigners and travel in the last week to Puerto Vallarta. He started on July 25 with swollen lymph nodes, papules, and vesicles on the face, arms, armpits, and abdomen. He went for a consultation on August 2 and samples were taken and the InDRE confirmed positive for monkeypox on Friday, August 5.

The SSJ reiterates that in all active cases, epidemiological investigation and contact investigation continue.
