An American tourist who arrived at Cancun's International Airport was detained for illegal possession of a firearm, and three magazines with useful bullets were seized, according to the National Guard through an informative card.

Customs personnel at the airport center of the tourist destination detected the pistol among the belongings of the man, who was coming from the city of St. Louis, Missouri, and immediately notified the federal agents, who boarded the subject.

Customs agents at Cancun International Airport found a 9 mm handgun and three magazines in the tourist's belongings.

During the interview with the American tourist, whose identity was withheld, he declared that the gun was his, but he did not present the permit to carry it on Mexican soil, so the 9-millimeter pistol and the magazines with about 36 unloaded bullets were seized.

After the statements of the foreign tourist, the agents of the National Guard proceeded to read him the booklet of rights of the detainees in his language, to be later handed over to the Attorney General's Office of the Republic (FGR), in Cancun, where his legal situation will be defined.
