A SUV that minutes before had been stolen with violence was secured this afternoon after the offender was pursued by police elements, who tracked him through video surveillance cameras and the vehicle's GPS.
The incident occurred around midday on Yaxchilán Avenue, where the owner of the Kia Sportage SUV reported a violent robbery to the authorities. As a result, police authorities followed the vehicle, which was heading towards Villas del Mar, north of the city, on Kabah Avenue.
Subsequently, the vehicle was intercepted before reaching Tules and Limonero avenues, causing the offender to crash against the wall of a house, and then, surprisingly, to flee the area.
Quintana Roo Police officers arrived at the site to guard the unit; and in turn, with the support of the National Guard, they conducted an operation in the surrounding areas to find the perpetrator. No one has been arrested so far.
