Cancun maintains its leadership in clean beaches
At the Cancun Riviera Maya Clean Beaches Committee's Ordinary Session, the Municipality of Benito Juarez maintained its leadership in clean beaches.

During the Ordinary Session of the Cancun Riviera Maya Clean Beaches Committee, the Municipality of Benito Juarez maintained its leadership in clean beaches, by being ratified to coordinate the work of the said committee for the 2022-2024 period, a decision made by the representatives of the municipalities of Solidaridad, Cozumel, Isla Mujeres, and Tulum.
The President of the Committee is the person in charge of the Office of the Municipal Presidency of Benito Juárez, and the Director of the Federal Maritime Terrestrial Zone (ZOFEMAT) is the alternate.
The Cancun Riviera Maya Clean Beaches Committee coordinated by the municipality of Benito Juarez since 2016, has as its main objective to prevent health risks to the population, establishing risk criteria according to the levels of sterococci present in the water, as well as establishing test methods to determine the water quality indicator and transmitting the information to the Local Committee of Clean Beaches.
Its jurisdiction is in the municipalities of Benito Juarez, Cozumel, Isla Mujeres, Puerto Morelos, Solidaridad, and Tulum and it is an auxiliary body of the Yucatan Peninsula Watershed Council (CCPY) that seeks to promote the sanitation of beaches and the basins, sub-basins, aquifers, lagoons, and wetlands associated with them.
As well as preventing and correcting pollution to protect and preserve Mexican beaches, respecting the native ecology and raising the quality and standard of living of the local population and tourism, and promoting the competitiveness of the beaches.
It is important to point out that this committee is integrated by 46 instances of the three levels of government, organized civil society, users of national waters and research centers.
