Frenchman André-Pierre Gignac, the striker for Tigres de la UANL, won his third title as goal-scoring champion in the Grita X La Paz Tournament.

Tigres de la UANL striker, Frenchman André-Pierre Gignac, won his third title as goal-scoring champion, the Liga MX Grita X La Paz 2022 Tournament, after scoring 11 goals. Gignac, one of the best foreigners to come to Mexican football in recent years, was once again the goal-scoring man for his team and Liga MX, this time thanks to a scoring streak of nine consecutive matches.

The French striker scored from matchday three to 12, only on matchday 7 against Bravos FC did he score a brace, the only one he scored this season; his last goal was on April 16, on matchday 14 against Toluca; during the current campaign, Gignac only missed one match, that of matchday 17; in the remaining 16 he played practically all the minutes, only in matchday five did he come on as a substitute at 75 minutes, and in matchday seven with five minutes to go.

Although he was once again the northern team's most lethal player and for the third time the top scorer in Mexico, he was crowned with his lowest number of goals in the other two titles. In Clausura 2016 he was the top scorer with 13 goals, while in the Apertura 2018 he repeated the throne after scoring on 14 occasions.

With his 11 goals in the tournament, André-Pierre Gignac beat Nicolás Alejandro Ibáñez, from Pachuca, and Rodrigo Sebastián Aguirre, from Necaxa, who scored nine goals, respectively, by two goals.Tigres de la UANL also has a goal-scoring champion for the second consecutive tournament, after Uruguayan Nicolás "Diente" López shared the title with Germán Berterame, from Atlético San Luis, both with nine.
