The opportunities presented by Yucatan as an attractive tourist destination and the new fiscal stimuli that offer reductions of up to 100% in taxes and rights to new investments in infrastructure and services of the sector, are some of the topics presented by Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal during a meeting with the head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur), Miguel Torruco Marqués, the ambassador of Mexico in Spain, Roberta Lajous Vargas and the director of the House of Mexico in that nation, Ximena Caraza Campos.
Yucatán promotes new tourism investments in Spain
When beginning his visit to the Spanish capital, before participating in the International Tourism Fair (Fitur) 2019, the Yucatecan president held a meeting with officials of the Sectur, headed by Torruco Marqués, and the Mexican diplomat, as well as with the governors of Campeche, Rafael Alejandro Moreno Cárdenas and Oaxaca, Alejandro Murat Hinojosa.
From the Casa de México in Spain, the head of the Executive Branch presented an overview of tourism activity in the state, where he highlighted that the destination is increasingly attractive to visitors and that it has recently managed to increase its air connectivity, as well as the establishment of strategic alliances that allow the arrival of a greater number of tourists.
In a special way, Vila Dosal highlighted the tax benefits that international, national and local investors can obtain through Decree 33/2019, which establishes a stimulus package to reduce up to 100% of taxes and duties in the first three years of activity, which will translate into more and better jobs for the inhabitants of the interior of the state.
At the meeting, the governor insisted that the purpose of this provision is to generate better paid and formal jobs for families in the interior of the state, a situation that will undoubtedly contribute to the communities to get out of poverty conditions.
During the meeting, Vila Dosal approached, together with the federal official, the ambassador of Mexico and his counterparts from Campeche and Oaxaca, the status of the Magic Towns program and the call for the 2020 edition of the Tourism Tianguis.
When speaking, Torruco Marqués informed that the opportunities for the arrival of more Asian visitors to the Yucatan Peninsula increase with the start of operations of four airlines from that continent that will have flights to Mexico and are looking for others. destinations in the states.
Also, the head of the Sectur mentioned that the south-southeast of the country will host a meeting of Ministers of Tourism of Latin America, which will address different issues, including the problem of sargassum, while noting the importance of it has the participation of the Mexican states in international tourism fairs such as London, England; Madrid Spain; and Berlin, Germany, which will be next March.
In turn, the Mexican ambassador in Spain presented an overview of tourism activity in the Iberian country and the director of the House of Mexico in that nation, Ximena Caraza, announced the services and cultural spaces that this headquarters offers to the States of the country.
