In Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, the attempt to assault and take hostage, in a grocery store in the Lomas de Coapinole neighborhood, led to the death of the assailant by municipal police who surrounded him.
Unable to flee, the alleged assailant took one of the saleswomen as a hostage. For 20 minutes he threatened her with a knife in the neck. Then he released the woman and ran out of the store.The municipal police shot him. The man died almost instantly.
The events, which took place last Thursday, were broadcast live on the CPS Media news network. A neighbor noticed the facts and notified 911. The Puerto Vallarta Municipal Police surrounded the establishment.
The alleged thief was a 49-year-old man, originally from Tomatlán, a municipality near Vallarta. He had an arrest warrant for the crimes of homicide and parricide.
