Mexico key market for the expansion of Viajes El Corte Inglés
El Corte Inglés has just concluded an agreement with the Soriana group to exclusively distribute its brand's products in 827 stores in Mexico, Expansión reports. This alliance is key to the growth of the Spanish conglomerate in Latin America as it is confirmed by its commitment to the Aztec country where Viajes El Corte Inglés has 70 offices out of the 108 that it has outside the Iberian Peninsula.
The business of the department store group abroad grew by 32.5% since 2012, although it still represents only 5% of the 15,935 invoiced in 2017. The management team led by Jesus Nuno de la Rosa has proposed to increase this figure the next few years, as preferente.com has published (El Corte Inglés bets on VECI to gain a foothold in the international market).
Viajes El Corte Inglés has a large international presence, as well as the 70 offices in Mexico, it has nine in Colombia, seven in Chile, four in Argentina, three in Ecuador, Panama, Peru and Uruguay, and two in the Dominican Republic, so that it exceeds 100 in all of Latin America, and 130 outside of Spain, as reported by the multi-Latino tourist digital REPORTUR.mx (Viajes El Corte Inglés already has 70 offices in Mexico and 9 in Colombia).
The international expansion of Viajes El Corte Inglés has another resource; its Tourmundial wholesaler that already entered the Latin American market, specifically Mexico and Chile, and in November of this year it entered the Spanish market, as it already revealed preferente.com (All the details of the VECI plan for Tourmundial). In Europe, the travel agency also continues its expansion in countries such as Portugal, where it already has 22 offices (Viajes El Corte Inglés reaches 22 offices in Portugal).
