1. Trek around Tulum

There is nothing like being on the beach and swimming in the Mayan ruins. The ruins are well preserved, and you can find many travel guides that will accompany you. The nearby city (also called Tulum) has become a backpacker and expat hotspot in recent years.

There are more than 30 volcanoes in Mexico. Most volcanoes are located in national parks and offer some of the best hiking and mountain biking in the country. Popocatepetl is often included in the list of 10 world volcanoes, but it is closed for climbing because it is so active, so tourists choose Paricutin and Orizaba.
