The number of tourists in Mexico increases by 5.8% in 2018
During 2018, Mexico received 41.55 million international tourists, a growth of 5.8% compared to 2017, according to Miguel Torruco, head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur).
According to the official, during the past year 123.92 million tourists stayed at the hotel in the country, of which 78.8% were national and 21.2% international, that is, an increase of 2.2% in relation to 2017.
According to Expansión, Torruco recalled that the expectations of 2018 closing in Mexico in income for international tourists were 22 billion 440 million dollars, an increase of 5.2% with respect to 2017 and, according to the expectations, for the closing of 2019 will be 23 billion 263 million dollars.
According to the head of the Ministry of Tourism, tourism represents 8.8% of the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and generates 4.1 million direct jobs and 6.5 million indirect jobs.
