This is the story of one of the men who has frightened most of the Caribbean and Mexico because of his terrible crimes that shook more than one person. Gumaro de Dios or Bagdel, a man who had no mercy on any of his victims.

He ate his friend. This was one of the most shocking events that have occurred in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo.

On December 14, 2004, the municipal police were alerted to a murder in a palapa located on the Chetumal highway, Playa del Carmen. A man was found asleep in a hammock next to a grill and a butchered corpse. Immediately the police agents arrested the man who said he was called "Gumaro de Dios". He was a 26-year-old bricklayer who confessed his terrible crime without regret. He told the police that he killed the man for a debt of 500 pesos.

"I got the idea, I said, I'm going to hang him, mouth down, I cut him hanging alive," said the Canibal without regret in an interview.

Originally from Tabasco, Gumaro de Dios turned out to have been an ex-convict, he was jailed for 2 years for robbery. But later it became known that he had also raped a child and murdered another man.

"I'm going down to that "bato" (man) and I'm going to eat him"

Complicated childhood

At age 10, he was raped by a cousin, he practiced bestiality while using drugs and alcohol. His father had him join the army, but after a few years, he deserted. Allegedly, Gumaro suffered from schizophrenia and paranoia, mental illnesses that unleashed his murderous instinct. On September 11, 2012, he died of AIDS in the general hospital of Chetumal at 34 years of age.
