Since its launch in 2018, the Korean firm has strengthened its presence in Mexico by being compatible with the country's main banks. The Samsung Pay digital wallet celebrates its first anniversary in the Mexican market with 430 thousand registered users in just one year. Through a press release, the company mentioned that the above reinforces its leadership in the Mexican mobile payments sector.
"Since its launch on January 26, 2018, Samsung Pay has positioned itself as the leader in mobile payment services as it is an easy, secure and accepted platform almost anywhere that supports credit and/or debit card payments," noted HS Jo president of Samsung Electronics Mexico
In its first year it managed to establish compatibility with the credit and debit cards of the 7 most important banks in the country. These are American Express, Banorte, Banregio, Citibanamex, HSBC, Santander and Scotiabank under MasterCard, Visa and American Express. Samsung Pay has worked hand in hand with the fintech industry through payment aggregators such as Clip, iZettle, Quiubo, Phenicia, among others.
In this regard H.S. Jo added that they are "Focused on granting the best experiences to our clients. Samsung Pay's rapid growth has been possible thanks to the company's commitment to developing an open collaboration model. " Launched in South Korea in 2015, it is currently available in 24 markets on 5 continents. In addition, the platform registered more than 1.3 billion transactions globally during 2018.
