Carlos Slim gets contract to remodel Real Madrid stadium

Spanish construction and infrastructure company FCC, controlled by Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim, has been awarded a contract for the renovation of Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabéu stadium.

FCC will begin working immediately.

"The execution of the works will be compatible with the celebration of the sports calendar matches and with the maintenance of the usual activities of the stadium," Madrid said in a statement.

"The commitment for the remodeling of the Santiago Bernabéu stadium is 39 months, so it will be completed in August 2022, extending four months for the outdoor development of the stadium."

The contract has an approximate value of 475 million euros (532 million dollars), reported the Spanish newspaper Cinco Días.
