For today, the National Meteorological Service (SMN) reports that cold front number 45 will extend over the northern Gulf of Mexico, and will no longer affect the country. However, a low-pressure channel over the north and center of the territory, in interaction with instability at high levels of the atmosphere and the entry of humidity from both oceans, will cause showers and heavy rains in several regions, some with gusts of wind, but the atmosphere will remain hot to very hot.

When does the 2022 rainy season start in Mexico?

According to the meteored.mx website, statistically, the hurricane season begins on May 15 in the northeastern Pacific basin, while in the Atlantic it begins on June 1, ending on both coasts on November 30.

The dates do not change; however, the rains may begin earlier or later. In Mexico, they point out, although there is no specific day on which it will start raining, precipitations begin regularly in the second half of May, settling in June, when tropical waves, cyclones, and the entry of humidity fully affect the country.

According to meteored.mx, in its rainy season forecast for these last days, the drought in Mexico is increasing and gaining extension "due to the scarcity of rainfall in the last weeks and months", however, since the second half of April, rainfall "has increased significantly in some states, highlighting the central-eastern region".

Knowing the date when the 2022 rainy season begins allows us to take mitigation measures in time to avoid dangers, such as floods, so it is advisable to carry out the maintenance of streets, and above all, of homes, to avoid incidents.
