Quirino inaugurates the first public bicycle system in Sinaloa

Governor Quirino Ordaz Coppel inaugurated the first public bicycle system "Muévete Chilo Sinaloa", an efficient, healthy, safe, ecological and low-cost service, taking Mazatlan to the vanguard in sustainable mobility.

Accompanied by the Secretary of Federal Tourism, Miguel Torruco Marqués, the state governor stressed that this alternative will be very useful for short trips at a rate of 5 pesos per simple trip and at a much lower cost if you acquire a monthly or semi-annual membership or annual, meaning great savings for your pocket.

Quirino Ordaz pointed out that it is about generating more attractions for sustainable mobility in favor of the pedestrian and the cyclist and placing the port of Mazatlan at the height of other tourist destinations, which will be possible by teaming with Mayor Luis Guillermo Benítez and with the support of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

The Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Torruco Marqués, recognized the importance of having more attractive mobility options for visitors in Mazatlan and stressed that a change is underway in the direction of Governor Quirino Ordaz Coppel in Sinaloa.

He pointed out that the new federal government headed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has the interest of being a facilitator of private investment to meet the needs and expectations of national and foreign tourism.

The Secretary of Sustainable Development, Carlos Gandarilla García, explained that the first area has 11 bike ports in operation, historic center and surrounding areas with 39 for a total of 50 bike ports with 350 active bicycles; By the end of February, in agreement with the Municipality, 5 bike ports will be enabled in the linear park with 50 active bicycles.

He indicated that the service is complementary to public transport, does not compete against the existing one, helps the user to arrive more practically to the transshipment and change of means of transport if his activity requires it.

Mrs. Rosy Fuentes de Ordaz, President of the DIF Sinaloa System, commented that this system promotes family unity and took the opportunity to call on drivers to respect the cyclist.

The Mayor of Mazatlan, Luis Guillermo Benítez, pointed out that this transportation system will make more use of the infrastructure of Avenida del Mar, a project that was made possible thanks to Governor Quirino Ordaz and emphasized the agreement reached to bring the benefit to more families by expanding the project to the linear park.

Fabián Vargas, director of operations of VBike, thanked the authorities for the facilities granted and commented that the bicycles operate through a mobile application and are monitored by GPS.
