With the aim of enhancing and recognizing one of the most important artistic and cultural expressions of Querétaro, the Secretary of Culture of the State, Paulina Aguado Romero, announced the creation of the Casa del Huapango auditorium located in the municipal seat of San Joaquin that will open its doors within the framework of the 50th National Contest of Huapango to be held on May 3 and 4.

"This type of infrastructure was necessary to enhance the huapango, to recognize those who for 50 years have maintained this tradition that we can witness today and that has become one of the most important traditions in the country.

"We will celebrate this edition of the contest that has become the most important meeting of this cultural and artistic form, which contains all the cultural and symbolic richness in dress, technique, shared roots and also in the cultural heritage for the new generations that have found in the huapango a form of expression, "said the head of culture.

She reported that the investment for the construction of this space, which will be unique in its kind in the country is 30 million pesos.

The building will have two levels, bathrooms, infirmary, a bodega, ticket office, multipurpose court, press and deliberation room for judges, as well as the capacity to hold up to two thousand and fifty people.

The Casa del Huapango will be located next to the town hall, where previously was the auditorium in which the prestigious National Contest of Huapango was held over almost five decades.

Arturo Mora, director of Dissemination and Cultural Heritage, stressed that the demolition of this space for the construction of this new building was an agreement with the organizing committee, this before the need to create a space with the necessary adjustments to the growth of the contest and after the deterioration that already presented the place after having a series of rehabilitation.
