In 2018, the number of passengers at the maritime terminals operated and administered by the Port Authority of Quintana Roo (Apiqroo) increased by 9.3% compared to 2017, and more than 16.5 million people were mobilized.

In a press conference, the general director of the Apiqroo, Alicia Ricalde Magaña informed that in 2018 the parastatal registered the movement of 16 million 546 thousand 893 passengers in the maritime terminals of Isla Mujeres, Cozumel, Puerto Juarez, Chetumal and Punta Sam.

She stressed that last year Cozumel reached a thousand 296 cruises with four million 265 thousand 525 passengers, which means an increase of 4.1% and 3.9%, respectively, compared to 2017, when they docked a thousand 245 floating hotels with four million 103 thousand 787 travelers.

"With these results, once again Cozumel's leadership in the cruise industry in Mexico and in Latin America is reaffirmed," she said.
