More than 1000 tourists scammed with ghost trips to Quintana Roo
Illegal travel companies have defrauded more than 1000 national and foreign tourists last December with trips to the tourist destinations of Quintana Roo, according to the Federal Attorney's Office of the Consumer (Profeco).
Roberto Loya Hernández, delegate of Profeco, told Sipse that "these fraudulent companies are not physically searchable. They are difficult websites to track with non-existent hotels, which is obviously extortion, "he added.
Julián Balbuena, Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of Best Day, mentioned to the same media that he has detected at least three cases that have harmed the company.
"The authorities must do a job to be more vigilant and that the offers that are generated on the platforms have a livelihood of companies that have complied with licenses and permits," he added.
