Mexican Rowers Power Through to Semi-Finals
Mexican rowing duo Carballo and López secure third place in second chance, advancing to A/B semi-final. They face tough competition from Belgium, Ukraine, Greece, France, and Argentina. Mexico aims for a top three finish to reach medal round.
The national rowing teams Miguel Ángel Carballo Nieto and Alexis Bladimir López García finished in third place in the second series of the men's lightweight double scull second chance at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games with a time of 6:47.60 minutes, which allowed them to advance to the A/B semi-final round.
Meanwhile, at the Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium, the Belgian pair of Tibo Vyvey and Niels van Zandweghe led the race with a time of 6:42.99 minutes, while the Ukrainians Igor Khmara and Stanislav Kovalov finished second with 6:46.05 minutes.
During the first second chance series in this modality, the nations of Greece, France and Argentina also qualified for the A/B semi-finals after placing first, second and third, respectively.
The Mexican duo will seek to qualify among the top three in their semifinal round of group two on July 31 when they begin their participation at 03:14 hours central time along with the countries of Greece, Spain, Italy, Norway and Ukraine.
In the first semifinalist group are Argentina, Belgium, Switzerland, Ireland, Czech Republic and France, who will also seek to advance to the medal zone this Wednesday at the same venue. In turn, those who qualified for the C final were Egypt, Uzbekistan, Chile and Japan.
