Technological progress has allowed the development of an increasingly industrialized and globally connected economy. It has allowed us to make significant progress in scientific discoveries, and, consequently, humanity has obtained a better quality of life, however, human activity and its rapid acceleration has had a negative impact on the environment.
Mexican innovation in the fight against global warming
Global warming represents a threat to the stability of the planet and society as we know it today. In fact, recently, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change of the United Nations (IPCC) warns that if the barrier of 1.5 degrees Celsius is overcome in the rise in temperatures, there will be catastrophic consequences for humanity, a situation that is predicted to occur between 2030 and 2052.
To try to combat this type of problem, countries have carried out various initiatives to reduce CO2 emissions globally, such as the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, signed in 2015 by 96 countries, which aims to maintain the global warming at a level below 1.5 degrees.
Although, according to ECLAC, Latin America is one of the regions that have contributed the least to global warming, Mexico is currently one of the countries that ratified the Paris Agreement and has implemented policies to significantly reduce its emissions by up to 40% At the same time, some companies are innovating and contributing to face the challenge of global warming.
One example is Alpha & Omega Solar, created in 2007 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, whose objective is to disseminate and implement the use of alternative energies through photovoltaic panels. The company has experienced a consolidation in its business and has increased its potential through SAP Business One solutions, which has allowed them to be more efficient in their various business processes. This process improvement allows it to have a greater focus on its clients, offering a high level of service, technical support, training, design and energy saving solutions.
Although, technological advances have contributed to a certain extent to climate change, the same technology is currently an ally to preserve the planet, and find environmentally friendly solutions. From the generation of renewable energy, hydrogen-based transportation, smart buildings, to innovative manufacturing processes, these are some examples of how we can achieve more sustainable business models and daily activities.
