Mérida recognized as the most peaceful city in Mexico

The city of Mérida was awarded as the most peaceful city in the country, by the organization "Building spaces for peace" of Culiacán, Sinaloa.

The citizen organization "Building spaces for peace" reward the performance of the City Council and citizens to keep the capital of Yucatan quiet.

The award recognizes the city as an inspiration for others in relation to the culture of peace, for the actions that the authorities carry out to maintain tranquility.

The organization "Building Spaces for Peace" also provided space for the municipal authorities of the Yucatan capital to make the presentation "Mérida, the most peaceful city in Mexico" as well as hold meetings with local authorities, businessmen and citizens on peace issues and security.

The National Survey of Public Security (ENSU), as well as a document from the Strategic Communications Cabinet (GCE), which is called Mexico's Most Livable Cities, places Mérida as the safest city, with a score of 66.9, followed for Durango with 63.4 and Saltillo with 54.1.

Recently, the results of the Positive Peace Index Mexico (IPPM) 2018 show that, the five states best classified in the IPPM are: Yucatán, Nuevo León, Aguascalientes, Querétaro and Campeche.
