The event brings together a wide range of selected galleries from more than 20 countries and 37 cities, the bet is one of the most diverse internationally.

"We had never seen this level of competence in the process of applying the fair. The selection committee experienced a difficult task this year because of the extensive list of exhibitors, which reflects the continued rise of Mexico City in the world of international art, "said Rodrigo Feliz, material exhibitor director, at La Razón. a press conference. This year, as the axis of the public program for Material, IMMATERIAL arrives: a program dedicated to show pieces through performance. The curator of the proposal is Michelangelo Miccolis, who will celebrate its third edition in 2019.

"On this occasion the performances will be hidden, in a camouflaged way they will surprise those who come. What we want is to give an innovative look to all this, where creativity is the most important thing, "Brett William Schultz, creative director, told this publishing house.

Previous editions have included works by acclaimed artists such as Maria Hassabi, Mårten Spångberg, Adriana Lara, Geoffrey Farmer, Dora Garcia, and Cally Spooner, among others.

"The most attractive is the group of galleries, without a doubt, includes galleries that are very prominent in the international circuit of fairs around the world, we are very proud of the selection. And I think the program of performances is very particular, it has no stage or schedule, they are works that will be traveling and woven in the fair, it will leave a very special feeling to those who come, "explained Rodrigo Feliz, exhibitions director of Material.

One of the surprises for this edition is that literature will also be present through READING MATERIAL, which debuts with a new section dedicated to publications and artists' books.

The fair has the participation of the curator Eva Posas, who organized an experimental section that will take the lounge area of the terrace and promises to be "a paradise of books, good vibes, party, even a pool of balls and, yes, more books" , declared Posas at a press conference.

The design concept of the event was realized by the architectural study of the CDMX: APRDELESP, and last year it gathered more than 20 thousand visitors in the emblematic Art Deco space, Frontón México, where it will return from February 7 to 10.

Another aspect that distinguishes the event in all its editions is the support and encouragement it gives to national projects and galleries, which also find a sale to the world in space.

"The fact of being located so close to the Monument to the Revolution, being a Mexican fair of international renown, implies a strong commitment to give the impulse to the Mexican proposals", explained Feliz.

Thus, the fair will have 18 Mexican galleries, the exhibitors that are presented for the first time include LADRÓNgalería, PROGRESO and NERI | Barranco and Deslave de Tijuana.
