The activities of the International Clarinet and Saxophone Festival "Clari-sax" are scheduled from March 20 to 24 and include several concerts, such as those offered on the 20th and 21st at the Palacio de la Música at 8:00 p.m.

The First International Clarinet and Saxophone Festival "Clari-sax" 2019 will allow listening to talented musicians from various countries, who will offer concerts for all audiences, as well as lectures and masterclasses.

One of them is the Spaniard Carlos Ordoñez, guest saxophonist and president of the classical saxophone jury, who has been awarded in numerous national and international competitions.

Carlos, who is already in Mérida, affirms that it will be a "very exciting" event to be able to listen to the music of different styles since among the invited musicians who will serve as judges there are Mexicans, Colombians, Cubans, and Spaniards. He hopes that it will be an enriching Festival both for the participants and for the jury for that diversity of cultures and styles that will be expressed in the music.

On March 20, Carlos Ordoñez will perform with Lorena Ríos from Colombia, and Mexicans Erik López and Filomeno Ortiz, who will show their high level in the execution of the saxophone.

About his participation in the recital, the Spanish say that he contemplates Spanish music, but also from other styles and times, so it will be a very varied concert, together with the fact that he will use both the alto sax and the soprano sax, which makes One piece sounds different.

On March 21, the concert will be offered by clarinetist Manuel Hernández, the first concertmaster of the Concertistas de Bellas Artes, accompanied by the Yucatán Quartet and will perform works by Mozart, Webber and Gutiérrez Heras.

As president of the jury, he was in charge of the selection of those who will perform at the Festival these days, with 11 contestants in jazz saxophone and 16 in classical saxophone. The final of the latter will be at the Palacio de la Música on Saturday 23 at 6:00 p.m. and the jazz saxophone final will be held at Paseo 60 on Sunday, March 24, starting at 6:00 p.m.

Juan Diego Beltrán, director of the Festival, announces that after the final there will be a closing concert there, in which the artists will be presented accompanied by the Sensitive Jazz Trio of Mauricio Bonfiglio; In this concert, the musicians who were judges will also participate.
