Inauguration of new exhibition cycle at the Macay in Merida

The new cycle of temporary exhibitions January-March 2019 was inaugurated at the Fernando García Ponce-Macay Museum, with 148 works by national and international artists.

On its 25th anniversary, the museum inaugurates a cycle of exhibitions that has an important presence of women artists and creators from Yucatan.

The works that are presented are by the artists Ghis Thomas, who exhibits 25 paintings of large format entitled "Thomas"; Patricia Baez exhibits 25 works in tempered architectural glass, called "Fragments" and that will remain until June.

In the "Galería CINCO + UNO", which was an initiative of six creators; Alberto Urzaiz, Sandra Nikolai, Celina Fernández, Gabriel Peón, Otto Bauerle and Jorge Patrón, who describe it as an adventure of artistic coincidence and of sum of efforts in the local environment, will be exhibited 77 works of artists.

"Los Mayas Eternos" is a collection of 21 black and white photographs by the Yucatecan artist Pedro Tec, who through photography, digital publishing and community art explores the themes of mysticism, identity, ancestry, gender and aspects sociopolitical of the Mayan culture.

The Fernando García Ponce Museum is open to be visited from Wednesday to Monday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and admission is free.
