Mexico will be the guest country at Chile's most important event of music and creative economies


The meeting of the Latin American music industry, IMESUR, confirmed its fifth edition. IMESUR 2019 will take place between Thursday 26 and Sunday 29 September in Matucana 100, and will have Mexico as its "focus country".

The event includes some free activities open to the public, including live performances by artists such as Quique Neira, Pascuala Ilabaca, Como Asesinar a Felipes, Yorka, Mariel Mariel, Newen Afrobeat, Banda Conmoción, and Fármacos, as well as artists from Colombia, Bolivia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Spain, and Mexico.

IMESUR also involves training and networking activities, whose objective is to foster the development of the national and international music industry. According to its General Director, Tomás Muhr, "this event is designed by musicians and artists who know first hand the needs of our sector, which allows us to propose more complete solutions that meet the expectations we have as musicians and intermediaries. The call is to dare, to open our ears and pay attention to what is happening with our music so that we can build better models in collaborative and strategic terms.

This year IMESUR will be developed in three thematic axes. The first is Mexico's leading role in the music market. With a curatorship guided by an alliance with the University of Guadalajara (UDG), representatives of the powers of that country were selected in booking, live events, and programming, in order to promote the relationship between the industry of Mexico with that of the Southern Cone. The second is the joint work with "SatéliteLAT Mujeres de la Industria Musical", an organization created at the end of 2018 by women from different countries of the continent who work in the music market, to face challenges in gender issues and make visible the role of women in the music industry.

Finally, IMESUR 2019 will have a strong focus on Digital Intelligence, associated with concepts such as playlisting, monetization by Spotify or Youtube, and synchronization. The objective is to learn how to use digital technologies linked to the music industry, which today is a necessity for creators and programmers. That is why IMESUR will receive AVL Digital Group, a group that includes the digital distributor CD Baby, to guide the conversation about the ruling technologies in the world of music.

IMESUR, as in all its versions, will include the participation of more than 30 prominent international representatives of the music industry, including the Events Manager of OCESA, the largest event platform in Mexico, Itzel Gonzalez, the Director of Culture of the UDG, Igor Lozada, and Noah Becker, President of AdRev (part of AVL Digital Group), leader in monetization on YouTube. They will be participating in exclusive IMESUR accredited activities such as business rounds, workshops, mentoring, and panels.
