In the month of November the collection for lodging tax in Guadalajara grew by 7.15% compared to the same period of 2017, which represented seven million 635 thousand 835 pesos and for the following year the expectation is to reach 10% of growth, informed Juan Carlos Mondragón Castañeda, president of the Tourism Trust in the Metropolitan Area of Guadalajara.

In 2018 Guadalajara was named by international magazines, as a must see city.

"Those seven million for next year should become almost 10 million pesos, because we have more hotels, more supply and more global events and will grow."

In 2019, 12 hotels will begin to be built in the city, some of them international brands, which will represent two thousand more rooms, to reach 25 thousand in Guadalajara and its Metropolitan Area.

These hotels that start construction the following year, will have an investment of close to 120 million dollars and, according to Mondragón Castañeda, will increase the percentage of occupancy in the city, which closes 2018 with 62%.

About the rate, which could be impacted by the amount of supply that is in Guadalajara, explained that "rise and fall depending on people willing to buy products."

Guadalajara unlike a decade ago, has more weekend tourism and more people enjoying its artistic, cultural and gastronomic attractions, as it has about 17 thousand restaurants.

"Guadalajara is a dynamic city that will continue to grow in supply, occupation and rate ... We have to work on more international flights, we need international tourism, because the international tourism is the one that raises the rates, which results in increase in dollars".
