"It will be a re-launch of a carnival that has been celebrated for many years in Mérida. For this occasion, we can enjoy a totally familiar and safe event, where more than a thousand elements will protect the attendees. "We want to position the festival as one of the first nationally, we estimate that this year there will be a presence of one million people," said Barrera Concha.
The municipal president assured that it will be a very diverse event with activities for all ages and preferences from concerts, shows, children's areas, extreme sports, and carnivals. Megacars will be installed to provide shade areas, chairs, and bleachers for seating and free public transportation will be provided for visitors to travel to the various venues of the festival.
Previous days will be held two coronation events; the first will take place on February 17 addressed to the elderly and with motor and intellectual disability, and on the 23rd the kings will be crowned children and youth. To formally inaugurate the event, the crown will be awarded to the kings of the 2019 Carnival and the "Burning of Bad Humor" will be held in the Esplanade of the Central de Abastos de Mérida with the presentation of the Intocable group.
The parades will begin on the 28th with surprises for children and on Friday, March 1 there will be the "Parade of Corso" with José Ron, Isabel Madow and the singer Maya Karuna of the Calo group, while in concert the partners of the Rhythm with Alexander will be presented Acha and Big Metra.
