Twenty-six days before the start of the continent's greatest sports festival, the Jamaican Olympic Committee presented the official list of its athletes who will participate in the Lima 2019 Pan American Games, in which two of the greatest sprinters in history stand out: Elaine Thompson and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce.

The two are among the top 10 in the IAAF 100-meter world ranking, both with a time of 10.73 seconds, achieved last weekend at the Jamaican National Championships. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce was Olympic 100m champion at just 21 in Beijing 2008 and then repeated her feat in London 2012. She also won two silver medals in the same games, in 200 meters, and 4x100-meter relays.

Elaine Thompson, for her part, is the last Olympic queen of speed. In Rio 2016, the outstanding athlete won the gold medal in the 100 and 200 meters. These two superstars of world athletics will compete in the 2019 Pan American Games between August 6 and 10 at the Lima athletic track in Peru.

With these two figures, plus the recent confirmation of the American Justin Gatlin, the jumper Caterine Ibargüen, from Colombia, and Yulimar Rojas, from Venezuela, among many others, athletics will undoubtedly be a world-class spectacle at the Pan American Games.
