Argentina football legend Diego Maradona is reportedly set to undergo emergency surgery after attending a routine health check-up.
Diego Maradona reportedly undergoing emergency surgery
According to The Sun, doctors discovered internal bleeding in his stomach and sent him to hospital for further evaluation.
Maradona, 58, is said to be receiving an endoscopy to examine his body from doctors at the Clinica Olivos in Vicente Lopez, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Maradona, known for his 'Hand of God' moment, is currently manager of Mexican side Dorados.
The side threw away a first-leg lead against Athletico San Luis in the Ascenso MX play-off final last month. The loss meant that Maradona and the team's promotion dream came to an end.
Despite the loss, his agent Matias Morla confirmed that Maradona will be staying on as manager for a second season.
When he took over the side on September, Dorados were struggling in Mexico's second division.
He was expected to return to Sinaloa in Mexico after what was supposed to be a routine medical examination.
