Criminal gangs take advantage of the weak security in CDMX downtown area

That the central area of Mexico City is one of the most insecure in the capital is due to one reason: organized crime gangs take advantage of the weakening of surveillance in this area to commit illicit acts such as intentional homicides, extortion, theft by passersby, home and business.

This was considered by the president of the Citizen Council for Security and Justice of Mexico City, Salvador Guerrero Chiprés, who yesterday at a press conference said that "criminal organizations act where they perceive the weakest seat belt, and more when they are inside it."

Yesterday El Sol de México reported that according to data from the Attorney General's Office, the central area of Mexico City is also the most tourist area, with the largest number of skyscrapers and headquarters of the federal powers, the most insecure of the capital. And within it, colonies like Centro, Morelos or Guerrero are the most violent.

This coincides with the zone of operation and settlement of bands such as La Unión de Tepito or the Antiunion Force, dedicated to drug dealing, extortion to merchants and businessmen, authors of executions as in September of last year in the Plaza Garibaldi, to the control of the sale of illegal merchandise, among other illicit activities.

Questioned in this regard, Guerrero Chiprés commented: "It happens that criminal organizations act where they perceive the weakest seat belt, and more when they are inside it. These agencies have an ability to act inside and outside the seat belt perceived as weakened. "

However, the president of the Citizen Council for Security and Justice of Mexico City promised that at the end of February analysis of what happens in the central area of the capital will be presented, since it is the main quadrant of the influence of the bands dedicated to organized crime.

During the presentation of the platform DISÍ (Say Yes to the Complaint, Intelligence, Security and Innovation), Guerrero Chiprés made a report on security issues in which he called attention to the presence of colonies considered safe in the top 5 of various crimes : the North Rome, in the mayoralty of Cuauhtémoc, and Narvarte and Del Valle, in Benito Juárez.
