Months ago, when Chivas signed him almost by accident, Josecarlos Van Rankin was a soccer player who had no place in Pumas and that Lobos BUAP had despised. Today he could become the next Mexican to emigrate to European football. At least that's what the Italian portal Calciomercato says.

According to information published on the website, the right side of Guadalajara would be in the sights of two big clubs in Portugal: Porto and Benfica. The first of them already has an important Mexican presence because there militate Hector Herrera and Jesus "Tecatito" Corona. In the second of them Raúl Jiménez and Francisco "Kikín" Fonseca were in the past.

So far, neither the directors of Chivas nor the Pumas, still owner of their federative rights, has spoken about it. Josecarlos Van Rankin has a community passport, which would make it easier for him to emigrate to Europe, since he does not occupy a foreign position.

"The two historical rivals are fighting for the right side of the Pumas. Appointed by people with inside information as the best right-back in the Mexican league, Josecarlos Van Rankin has been the target of several European teams, "wrote the Italian portal Calciomercato.

"On loan with Chivas, the 25-year-old Mexican has a Dutch passport and is owned by Pumas. As known by Calciomercato, in recent weeks, Benfica and Porto have contacted the Mexican club and are ready to participate in a market duel to reach the player, author of two goals last season, "said the site.

Josecarlos Van Rankin is on loan with Chivas for one year. Months ago, the then Atletico manager, Francisco Gabriel de Anda, appeared in the draft, where Pumas offered the player, after Lobos BUAP rejected him. It was not in the sights of Guadalajara, but after consulting with the top brass, it gave the green light to the season assignment.

El Rebaño Sagrado has a purchase option on the soccer player that until today belongs to Pumas de la UNAM. In his first tournament he took over the starting position and surprised with a level that even took him into account for the Mexican National Team. Now, according to Calciomercato, I could make the leap to Europe.
