Strong fall incongresses and conventions in Mazatlan

The Mazatlan Convention Center had a loss of almost 90% of the events held during 2020, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The general director of the venue, José Alberto Ureña, mentioned that since the reactivation of the Mazatlán International Center, only 40 to 50 events were registered, mostly small and medium-sized meetings, but only one big one.

It is too early to visualize how many events will be held this year, but it could be reactivated by the second quarter of 2021. There are calls for quotations and even rescheduling of events that were not held in 2020.

"Some of them already had it, they are reactivating it, they said: 'wait for me, let me see how it comes', some are rescheduling dates, they are saying that maybe in the first quarter they are expected, others are not, they do not want events yet", he said.

Caribbean Series is coming and that will saturate hotels and transportation, there will be no conditions for events, then, what is Carnival and Easter low demand. The arrival of the vaccine against Covid-19 and the practice of handling sanitary protocols is what gives hope for 2021 to look better.

"We hope that soon we can increase the number of events and return to at least 50% of those that took place before the pandemic," he concluded.
