Chile increases its exports of fresh seasonal fruit by 9.87%
Chile exported more than 2.3 million tons of fresh fruit from September 1, 2018, to May 22, 2019, 9.87% more than the same period 2017-2018, informed the Association of Fruit Exporters (Asoex).
This growth is related to "a season with better weather conditions than in previous years, which has allowed the development of a better campaign in terms of exportable volumes," Asoex president Ronald Bown said in a statement.
A total of 2,304,361 tons of fresh fruit have been exported so far in the 2018-2019 season, with the main participation of the United States. with 610,987 tons, and a growth of 6.6% year-on-year in the period analyzed.
Latin America is the market that reflects the highest increase at the moment and for the first time, it ranked second in terms of shipping destinations with 585,022 tons and a growth of 65.93%.
In Latin America, Colombia, Brazil, and Ecuador lead the list of buyers of Chilean fresh fruit.
