A central science that is situated in the middle of other areas of knowledge, from where it influences and contributes to the most basic and the most applied, Chemistry integrates abstract and concrete knowledge, always contributing to the knowledge of areas as diverse as Astronomy, Materials Sciences, Biotechnology, Engineering, Ecology, and Medicine, among others.

At the end of the day, all sciences end up depending on chemical reaction, and that gives it a central strength: on the one hand it is very useful because it empowers it and makes it important; but on the other hand, it implies a very great responsibility because what chemists must learn is extremely varied.

The challenges of chemistry are global, and among them are climate change (whose research and treatment requires knowledge in the field), the availability of energy (with the possibility of using renewable energies efficiently), as well as health and pharmaceutical issues (where vaccines and antibiotics stand out today). Mexico has to take advantage of the scientific potential it possesses for the benefit of society. Mexico has the knowledge and the capacity but is lacking the creation of the complete environment that would allow it to take advantage of this potential.

Chemists' Day is commemorated on December 1st.

Chemists' Day is the date on which that guild has the opportunity to come together to identify and recognize itself as an important, strong, hardworking community that generates all kinds of results for our society. It has a wide influence ranging from the purest science to the most industrial application.
