Feher & Feher reported that, according to an analysis made by the firm, the sales of the businesses related to the preparation and sale of tamales and atole, could have an increase of up to 80%, thanks to the celebration of the Day of the Candelaria, on February 2.

According to data from the Chamber of Commerce Services and Tourism in Small, the economic benefit that will leave said celebration will be more than 27 million pesos in Mexico City, 5% more than in 2018.

Sales are expected to increase throughout the weekend, coinciding with the first "bridge" of the year and with the presentation of Super Bowl LIII.

According to the surveys conducted by the consultancy, some of the businesses that will see an increase in their sales are tamales, restaurants, coffee shops, and grocery stores, mainly. Some are dedicated to the repair of "children God" and everything related to their arrangement.

Regarding the increase in sales, Isaac Epelbaum, a franchise partner of Flor de Lis, a brand specializing in tamales, said that they expect an increase of 20% compared to 2018.

"From February 1 to 3 we have the most important sale for us in the year since in those days the same amount is sold that is sold in two regular months. Each year the sale grows more through food apps (Uber Eats, Rappi, etc.); that is why we expect that in 2019 more than 25% of sales will be made through these platforms.

On the other hand, Luis Valls and Manolo Gutiérrez, founders of María Candelaria, Mexican tamales, agree that this is the best season for the companies in this line of business since on January 31, February 1 and 2, they sell what is normally sold in a couple of months of the year.
