The German footwear brand Birkenstock does not slow down its growth in Mexico, with the opening in December 2018 of its first store in the city of Puerto Vallarta, in the state of Jalisco.

As confirmed by the brand, the new Birkenstock store is located in the La Isla shopping center, where it offers its various models of its well-known sustainable sandals.

With this opening, Birkenstock has nine stores in Mexico and is moving forward with its expansion plan. Currently, the German firm is present with locations in Mexico City, Playa del Carmen, Guadalajara, Queretaro, Veracruz, Cancun, and, recently, in Merida.

Pablo Rozada, commercial director of the brand in the country, had assured in April of last year that the firm would arrive during 2018 and 2019 to new shopping centers to open new stores, especially in cities where they had no presence, including Monterrey.

According to Rozada, since its arrival in Mexico in 2010, the German company has registered double-digit growth. In 2017, Birkenstock reported a variation of 30% in volume and sales in the country.

In addition to being its most important market in Latin America, Mexico is in the top 20 of the most important countries for Birkenstock internationally.

Considered the largest footwear manufacturer in Germany, the company currently sells approximately 25 million shoes worldwide each year and employs more than 3,800 employees. Birkenstock, known worldwide for its leather sandals, also sells accessories such as socks, insoles and bags.
