An Argentine winery was chosen as the best in the world in wine tourism

The Argentinian winery Zuccardi Valle de Uco, in Mendoza, was awarded in London as the Best Winery and Vineyard in South America and the World by the Academy of The World's Best Vineyards, formed by 500 international wine referents, sommeliers and travel correspondents deluxe.

"Everything we do is related to the terroir and is an expression of Argentina and specifically of the Uco Valley," said José Alberto Zuccardi, director of the winery, upon receiving the award.

According to the winegrower, the goal of the winery is "to give consumers a total experience of what Uco Valley is, both through our wines and the ingredients we use in our restaurant, and even the land."

For his part, Andrew Reed, founder of Word's Best Vineyards, said that "wine is produced in around 60 countries around the world and is very important for many national economies. In the United States alone, 17% of all its travel agents are dedicated solely to wine and gastronomic tourism "

The modern Zuccardi winery was inaugurated in 2016 in Paraje Altamira, San Carlos, Valle de Uco.

With the support of the International Wine Challenge, the awards from The World's Best Vineyards focus on the quality of wine tourism or wine tourism from more than 1,500 wineries around the world and select the ones they consider the best 50.

In addition to the wines, the participating jurors evaluate the gastronomy, the route, the environment, the personnel, the view, the price, the reputation, and the accessibility.

The winery was also awarded as "the best design in the world" at the Best Of architecture international award.

In addition to Zuccardi Valle de Uco, other Argentine wineries that make up the list are Catena Zapata (in fifth place); and, among the Latin American wineries, Garzón, of Uruguay occupies the second place, and Montes and Clos Apalta (both of Chile), the sixth.

Best Winery in Europe: López de Heredia Viña Tondonia (Spain).

Best Winery in Oceania and Asia: Rippon (New Zealand).

The winery is located at about 1,100 meters above sea level, in the highest part of the alluvial cone of the Tunuyán River.

Best Winery in North America: Robert Mondavi (United States).

Best Winery in Africa: Vergelegen (South Africa).

Best Middle Eastern Winery: Chateau Heritage (Lebanon).
