The swings are not just for children. Some offer unparalleled views of beautiful natural landscapes, promise to spend a moment of adrenaline, or are there to take the Instagram perfect picture. Here are five to try out.

Bacalar

Imagine observing the sunset reflected in the incredible tonalities of the Bacalar Lagoon, while you slowly swing and rub the water with your feet to cool off. At the Los Aluxes hotel, located on the shores of the "lagoon of seven colors", there is a trio of rustic swings suspended above the water. They are anchored to a small wooden pier, just a few steps from the accommodation. Its appearance is quite simple, but they offer a privileged view of the lagoon, whose seven cenotes distributed along 43 kilometers (27 miles) give it a series of spectacular tonalities, ranging from deep blue to turquoise. Los Aluxes offers rental of kayaks, tours and has a seafood restaurant.

Tulum

This is a more romantic option. Azulik is an exclusive hotel for adults in the jungle of Tulum. It consists of villas built with natural materials, each with unique attractions: it can be a Jacuzzi outside and, of course, swings overlooking the beach. Among the most spectacular is its Sea Villa, whose rustic swing swings over a small private pool, in the middle of a terrace built in wood. The Sky Villa has a couple of swings on the terrace, and the Jungle Villa has a suspended bed with a view of the jungle.

The suites are lit with candles and have limited use of electricity so that nothing interrupts your getaway as a couple. The hotel is connected by wooden paths lost among the vegetation. It has three restaurants, specializing in author cuisine, sushi, and Mexican cuisine.

Los Cabos

Everything starts in a gondola with a transparent floor that takes you to 90 meters (295 feet) high, on a huge desert canyon. Then, sitting on a harness, you must wait agonizing seconds to start your free fall and move like a pendulum, at a speed of approximately 140 kilometers per hour (86 miles per hour). The trip lasts until the swing stops completely naturally. To give you moral support, you can get up with a companion.

The attraction belongs to the Wild Canyon Adventure Park, which is located between San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas. There are also zip lines (with night walks), bungee, and quad bike tours by the ocean.

Carmen beach

The Xplor park, belonging to Xcaret, combined some of our favorite things: zip lines, hammocks, and cenotes. Literally, in one of its attractions, you have the opportunity to slide on a hammock to cool off in the waters of a cenote. You must launch from a tower with a height of four meters (13 feet), but the experience is suitable for the whole family since children are allowed from six years of age. The Hamacuatizaje attraction is also available in Xplor Fuego, whose tour is nocturnal.

Mexico City

You also do not have to go that far to get on a spectacular swing and out of the ordinary. Six Flags Park has the Supergirl Sky Flight attraction, with a maximum height of 74 meters (242 feet). As a couple, you can get amazing views of Mexico City. When it reaches the top, the swing has a speed of 64 kilometers per hour (39 miles per hour).
